How is SAGE ShowLink licensed?

Solution:

SAGE ShowLink is licensed on a per-device basis.  In general, this means that a license is required for every device that will be running ShowLink, regardless of how many people are going to be using the device. 

Licenses may be transferred from one device to another if they are not being used on the same day.  This transfer will happen automatically (if permitted) when the new device logs in for the first time.  If you see a "device license limit reached" message when you try to login, this means that existing licenses could not be transferred and a new license will be needed.

Following are some common scenarios that arise:

Q:  I have three people each with an iPhone at the tradeshow.  How many licenses are required?
A:  You will need a total of three device licenses, one for each iPhone.

Q: I have two iPads for show use that are being shared by 5 people in the booth.
A: Two licenses are required.  Licensing is device-dependent, regardless of how many people are using the device.

Q: I have one sales rep who will be scanning at a tradeshow on his iPhone tomorrow and another sales rep who will be scanning on her iPhone the following day.  How many licenses do I need?
A: One license is sufficient since only one device will be using ShowLink on a particular day.  The license will automatically transfer to the second sales rep's device on the second day.

Q: I have three reps at the show, each with his or her own iPhone connected to a scanner.  But only two people will be in the booth scanning leads at any given time.  How many licenses do I need?
A: Three licenses are needed because three devices will be in use on the same day.

Q: We are doing two different shows on the same day in different parts of the country.  We need one device with one scanner at each show.  How many licenses do we need?
A: Two licenses are needed because two devices will be in use on the same day.
