When I use the shipping estimator in SAGE Workplace Windows app or in my web store, the rates are somewhat different from the rates shown on FedEx.com's public rate quoting website.
FedEx has three types of rates:
Published Rates - These are the rates someone gets if they just walk into a FedEx store and ship something without having an account number. These will be the highest rates.
List Rates - These are the default rates that a company gets when they have a FedEx account number. Most companies have list rates.
Negotiated/Discounted Rates - These are the list rates less some discount that is obtained through a negotiated agreement or other discount plan. These are specific to each FedEx account and will be the lowest rates.
FedEx.com's public website shows the published rates if you do a quote without selecting the option to ship it with a FedEx account number. So, if you go to FedEx.com and just type in the shipping info, you are going to get published rates.
However, most companies have a FedEx account number. Therefore, they get list rates or potentially negotiated rates. As a result, we use list rates for the SAGE shipping estimator. For anyone shipping with a FedEx account number, the rates will not be higher than these list rates. So you can rest assured using them for your shipping estimations.
If you receive the PPAI FedEx discount as a PPAI member, then you receive discounted rates according to that plan. You can adjust the settings in the SAGE shipping estimator to account for these discounts if you choose.
