How to configure shipping information for the Shipping Estimator on a company store, showroom or web presentation item.
If you import an item from the SAGE database, it will usually include the shipping information obtained from the supplier. If you have added your own product, or the information was not available from the supplier when imported, then you can configure the information yourself.
In most cases you will need to contact the supplier to find the following information:
Units/Ctn - Ask the supplier how many units they ship per carton.
Weight/Ctn - This is the weight for a full carton based on the units per carton amount.
Carton Dimensions - Cartons are measured with the standard L" x W" x H" formula. For more info or help on measuring please visit the following link - http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/ship/packaging/dim_weight.html
The Shipping Estimator will calculate an estimated shipping cost based on all of the above information.
Example Item:
Units/Ctn: 100
Weight/Ctn: 50 lbs
Carton Dimensions: 10" x 10" x 10"
When someone orders 10 of this item the Shipping Estimator will know that each item weighs 0.5 lb based on the weight of a full carton containing 100 items. It will use this weight to determine the estimated shipping weight and cost for a box of 10 items.
